BEFORE & AFTER: Chairs (Take Two!)
It’s been a while (work has been beyond crazy lately!) — so what better way to jump back in than to show you a few projects I’ve been working on!
You may remember these captain’s chairs I found for $25 at a local thrift store. My original plan was to spray paint them with a chrome finish and reupholster the seats with a navy and white graphic fabric.
So that was done and I was excited until we were planning to have people over. I swiped across the back of the seat only to have silver paint come off on my hand. I thought, “Okay. Don’t panic – just spray a coat of clear gloss on them.” When I did that, the gloss and the spray paint reacted and the finish suddenly had multiple small air bubbles everywhere. Needless to say, I was heartbroken.
Plan B? My sudden obsession with ikat pattern textiles. I found a beautiful fabric at F&S Fabrics and decided to paint the bases of the chairs in a hue of turquoise from it. The result? VoilĂ !
